Catholic Woman’s Almanac {CWA} – Link up Sept 23 2013

I’m linking up again over at Suscipio 4 Women and the CAW series. Stop by for some encouraging words, and a little insight into some wonderful Catholic women’s lives.

Thanking God for… My family! I give thanks every day for being so blessed to have a healthy and happy family.

Looking out my window…I see a backyard in need of being cleaned up before it’s full of children this weekend.

I am praying…For those around the world that are being persecuted because of their faith.

I am pondering…Why I decided to paint a bathroom today, instead of doing all the other things on my to-do list.

I am reading…Nothing at the moment. I was reading several books, but I haven’t picked them up recently, perhaps tonight I will.

I am creating…Party games! Or at least I should be; punch out boxes and a scavenger hunt for my daughter’s birthday party this weekend.

I’m learning…That I have once again put too much on my plate, and need to learn to sometimes say no.

In the kitchen…I have pork chops, cauliflower, and red peppers waiting to go in the oven for dinner

Around the house…There is too much laundry to be put away.

I’m wearing…My painting clothes still, I need to change.

I am looking forward to…Having a house full of family and friends this weekend, in hour of my precious daughter’s second birthday.

One of my favourite things…Tea, I could use another cup right about now.

The week ahead…cleaning, decorating, play dates, school pictures, shopping, and celebrating.

Feeling Truly Blessed

I am trying to make myself stop and take in those truly blessed moments in life. Force myself to focus on the good instead of worrying and stressing over things I cannot control.

This week has been filled with highs and lows. A death of a distant family member, forgetting to pay a small bill last month, and still fighting with my son at school drop off. But it has been filled with so many more high moments:

– getting paid to write a blog post, and learning that it will be featured on a major website (more news about that when it happens, it’s a piece I wrote on my other frugal living blog)

– an adventure into the “big city” as the kids call it to pick up my husband from work when all trains were cancelled

– two play dates for my son this week, so he is making friends at school after all

– winning a family pass to the new Thomas the train King of the Railway movie screening this weekend (if you have toddlers and preschoolers, I’m sure you’ve watched your share of Thomas shows and movies)

– 3 large bags filled with freshly picked apples just waiting to be turned into pies and cakes and more muffins

– my kids getting used to not having toys at Mass, and paying a little more attention

I could focus on how busy life is, how I feel constantly spinning and not on top of anything, how my house isn’t as tidy as it should be, how I still haven’t pulled the dead flowers and veggies from the gardens, but that can all wait. Right now, lets just count our blessings and give thanks for all the amazing things in our lives.

A few quiet minutes to myself…

It’s been a hard week.

School for my son started out great, then went downhill fast. I don’t want to jump to any conclusions, or make any drastic decision on his future based on 3 days, so we are sticking with this and praying for the strength to get through this challenging time.

He is so shy, and so stubborn, but thankfully his teacher has a son just like him, and seems to be handling things ok for now. I pray every day for his Guardian Angel to watch over him and to give him strength and courage, to take the first step and join in the fun that the other kids are having. So far his only participation comes at snack time and recess, go figure!

We have settled into a better routine around the house, and this coming week I will focus on getting things cleaned and organized…funny how quickly the house can fall apart when you are sitting crying over your little guy who doesn’t like school.

Today we will be celebrating my God daughter’s 1st Birthday! And of course a little mention and extra thank you to Mary on her special day too.

I hope you all have a blessed week! I can’t wait to share more from my family’s adventures with you.
